Halitosis: What is it and what causes it?
This is commonly known as bad breath and that there are 600 known bacteria in a human mouth. Your tongue also can harbor odor causing bacteria that's why scraping it will lower the odors in the mouth. Odors are produced by a break down of proteins and amino acids that can produce a foul smelling gas in the mouth. Other areas in the mouth especially when there's food impacted between teeth that's not flossed out or brushed away and that too can cause gum infections if left undisturbed. Your nose can harbor odors of the mouth and the odor is distinct from the odor in the mouth that can be just as foul. Nasal odor, which can spread to the mouth, can be from colds and allergy reactions or foreign bodies ending up in the nose that's not getting cleared out. Your tonsils can also harbor bacteria for bad breath since calcified matter can build up in the tonsil cavity which can be as a result of a sore throat or str ep throat and when it's loose and released due to coughing it can release it where the odor can be pretty foul.
